Enterprise

For corporate, enterprise and commercial organizations, ThinScale products improve workforce productivity while increasing security and keeping costs low

Delivering Thin Client Computing to the Enterprise

I.T. is now looked upon as an enabler within corporate, enterprise, and commercial organizations. The ultimate goal is to keep the business competitive and productive, adding value to the bottom line, while at the same time keeping an eye on costs.

ThinKiosk is a software-defined thin client that converts existing Windows hardware into secure, centrally managed, Windows-based thin clients; simplifying tedious IT tasks and eliminating the need to invest in expensive new technology.

Secure Remote Worker built on a Thinkiosk core, empowers staff with the flexibility to take part in Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) schemes by transforming personally owned Windows devices into secure endpoints.

Delivering Thin Client Computing to the Enterprise

Increasing Workforce Productivity

IT teams are looking at new ways to deliver technology to aid end user productivity, often looking at extending the reach of typical static office working environments, with more flexible solutions.

No matter the approach, the priorities remain the same: delivering and enhancing the end user experience, manageability, security and reducing costs.

ThinScale’s software-based thin client solutions are designed to empower your workforce, increasing productivity while lowering investment costs. A familiar interface and strong endpoint security mean that your employees can continue to work with fewer interruptions, no matter where they are.

Hardware-based Thin Client Limitations

When deploying remote solutions, careful consideration needs to be given to how an end user will connect to their remote resources, how to maintain a familiar end user experience, and what device to use.

Often thin client hardware is the device of choice, but that is very static in nature and doesn’t offer the flexibility organizations and end users demand. Deploying any new technology within an organization could lead to a drop in productivity, and so any impact to the end users needs to be minimal and non-disruptive.

This is where ThinScale can help, with ThinKiosk and Secure Remote Worker software-defined thin clients.

Flexible, Software-defined Environments

Both ThinKiosk and Secure Remote Worker offer software-defined solutions that take existing Windows devices and repurpose them into secure, centrally managed, Windows-based thin clients.

End users access a secure workspace environment, with a familiar Windows-style look and feel user interface, from where they can access both remote and local resources. There is no need to dual boot, or boot from external USB device, making for an extremely easy and usable solution.

In addition, both ThinKiosk and Secure Remote Worker enable a number of advanced management features, designed to simplify management and enhance security protecting both the end users and your entire organization.

Endpoint Device Security & Compliance

ThinKiosk & Secure Remote Worker have some key functionality in enabling personal & corporate devices to become PCI compliant, including:

  • Windows Patch Management
  • Windows Firewall Control
  • Windows Security Centre Detection
  • USB Device Blocking
  • Application Execution Prevention (AEP)
  • Service Execution Prevention (SEP)
  • Restricted access to key operating system components

The Benefits to Enterprise Professionals

ThinScale products have been designed to deliver Enterprise features and benefits not only to the end users, but also to IT admins, and the business itself.

Policy & profile driven

IT administrators can configure profiles defining how a ThinKiosk thin client behaves. The profiles can be used to define settings from appearance settings, through to security settings.

Centralized management

The secure workspace environment is managed centrally using the ThinScale Management Platform, allowing organizations to ensure that the environment is secure and up to date.

Enhanced end user experience

Windows-based thin clients allow you to take advantage of, and continue using, all the features and benefits end users are accustomed to using, and IT admins are able to easily support.

Lower costs

Organizations can utilize their existing hardware, so with a ThinKiosk solution the cost is purely for the software license, and can be deployed, retracted and redistributed quickly and simply.

Familiar end user experience

The key to any successful solution is giving agents something they are used to using. ThinKiosk provides a seamless transition to remote solutions, coupled with a familiar user interface.

BYOD and Remote Working

Allow end users to access their virtual desktop and remote application resources securely from any Windows machine, personal or otherwise, enabling BYOD and remote working initiatives.

A secure and familiar end user experience means happier employees, fewer help-desk calls and happier IT staff. ThinScale delivers this all at a reduced cost.

The Irish Times
Enterprise CASE STUDY

The Irish Times

The Irish Times IT team leaders were putting together their virtualization strategy and found it difficult to justify a budget for thin client hardware.

A decision was made not to allocate resources to the acquisition of new hardware, including thin client devices. Against this background, they set about identifying the best solution to convert existing PC inventory into thin clients which would operate within existing IT infrastructure and systems.

With ThinKiosk, the Irish Times can now repurpose and redeploy their existing hardware as ThinKiosk software-defined thin clients. This not only dramatically cuts their costs, but it also allows them to secure the endpoint, manage it centrally, and deliver an enhanced end user experience.
